Ex Quarter Cask LAPHROAIG 2025 whisky

The malt for our spirit was smoked for two days in March/April 2020 at a maximum temperature of 83 °C, 15 - 19 hours each day. It was then cleaned for two days and rested for a month. Before smoking, it was germinated for 6 days and macerated for 3 days. The barley used was of the Laudis 550 variety from the Osoblažsko region, an area with a rich malting tradition. The malt was smoked with borked peat from Hora Sv. Šebestiána, whose burning and smoke differ significantly from that of conventional crushed peat. The result is a specific smoky aroma - 31.2 ppm according to tests. The wort was produced on 3 - 5 May 2020, distillation took place on 5 June 2020 at Rudolf Jelínek's company in Vizovice, in a two-stage copper boiler Arnold Holstein (1500 l) with a disconnected column - classic pot still.

You are now holding one of 456 bottles of ex QC Laphroaig whisky that has been matured in casks for 53 months. After several tasting samples it has been diluted to 47%. I believe this is a strength that optimally brings out all the flavours and aromas that the casks have yielded. What one smells in them is up to each of you.
